Recording Experiment No. 1 - The Pig

One of my 2014 endeavors is to learn more about recording as I want to produce more of my own music. In the past I've relied on Ensemble Evolution mate Charles Martin to be the techie, but logistics have gotten the best of us. WIth him residing in Australia, it's time for me to put on my big-girl pants and figure this out for myself!

So, first thing is first - acquire gear. My bro and sister-in-law gifted me an Avantone Audio CK-1 microphone  (in red, clearly) and mic stand for Christmas, and I recently purchased the PreSonus AudioBox, which includes all the fixins (preamp, software, another mic, cables, USB, headphones). Both recommendations come from Ray Dillard, percussion and recording extraordinare. Now, it's time to play.

Low and behold my first experiment! I still have A TON to figure out, but it was fun to play with mic placement and different instruments (especially my pig thrift shop find!) I'm proud that I've created four tracks, one of which uses delay (the marimba track).  It's a cold March day - so blame the mood of this one minute piece on the impending snowstorm!
