Hourglass, a Lumen Prize Finalist

We are thrilled to share that we’ve been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Lumen Prize!

This recognition means the world to us. The Lumen Prize is one of the most prestigious awards celebrating artists working with technology, and to be included among such an inspiring group of creatives from around the world is both humbling and energizing.

Hourglass, the first piece in my show Former Self, explores our fleeting relationship with time and upends the intersection of music performance and visual media. The work marks an expansion of my development of my motion-captured visual webs, and brings them into a narrative arch. The work is taken to the next level with the visual environment and objects created by Supreetha Krishnan.

The best part is that no two performances of Hourglass will ever be the same. The music is sprinkled with improvisatory moments, supporting the fluidity and generative nature of the webs, which are created by mirroring my physical movement.

From a pool of over 2,200 submissions from all over the world, being named a finalist is a powerful affirmation of my path thus far and to come. Sometimes explaining exactly what I do can be a mouthful because there are so many elements, musical genres, narratives, and technical details to share. But, bringing these visions to life is so empowering, and I appreciate the curators and jurors at the Lumen Prize for seeing our value in this artistic space.
